Tildevarsh is shutting down

Tildevarsh shuts down on September, the third. it was sad and it felt like the writing was on the wall, but the time had come, perhaps a little too early. As i realize, ~tildevarsh may have already been on its death throes when I joined in. Not very long after i had joined, i had written a post about tildevarsh, in an attempt to prop it up. I had posted the same in prose as well. I don't think it worked and i don't think a lot of people read it, if i am honest. But I am happy to have been a part of this community, and it is a little bittersweet given this was the first ever tilde that I was part of.

What next? #

This is unclear, but there are several other tildes the existing community members could join. A community member, Arya for instance, already helps run Project Segfault. Tildevarsh was just a single community and there are several other communities we could be part of. We still intend to remain in touch via IRC/Matrix. #gnulinuxindia in Libera is made up of the majority of the community members in tildevarsh, so it is not like the community went dead. There are, of course other free software focussed Indian communities we could join. None of them are really what we call tildes, which is why tildevarsh would be one of a kind. But tildevarsh was largely about community participation and less to do with the infrastructure that was setup as part of the tilde.

Possible Reboots? #

While currently there are no plans to start another India-focussed tilde, the possibility of this happening is not nil. It may just as well be one or more of us or anyone else who has the necessary time and resources to spare. Again, this would just be for the material side of things. The community would remain, as always, sharing and disseminating ideas as we have been doing all this while.
